WHAT IS INTERSEX ?
Intersex is people who are born with natural variations in their sex characteristics. These variations may involve chromosomes, hormones, reproductive organs, or physical anatomy that do not fit typical definitions of male or female bodies.
Intersex traits are present from birth, although some people may not discover they are intersex until puberty or later in life.
There are many different intersex variations. One example is Klinefelter syndrome (XXY), where a person is born with an extra X chromosome. Every intersex person's experience is unique.

WHAT IS transgender ?
Transgender (trans) is someone whose gender identity differs from the sex they were assigned at birth.
For example, a person may have been assigned male at birth but identify as a woman, non-binary, or another gender. Someone may also have been assigned female at birth and identify as a man.
Being transgender is about gender identity and how a person understands and experiences their gender and not about chromosomes, anatomy, or sexual orientation.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE ?
- Intersex relates to a person's biological sex characteriostics
- Transgender relates to a person's gender idenity.
Some intersex people are transgender, and some are not.
For example, an intersex person may identify with the gender they were assigned at birth and not consider themselves trans. Another intersex person may feel that their gender identity is different from the gender they were assigned and may identify as both intersex and transgender.

My Perspective
I was born intersex with XXY chromosomes. Being intersex is part of my biological makeup and has shaped my life in many ways. My journey has also led me to explore my gender identity, which is why I speak openly about both intersex and transgender experiences.
My goal is to help educate others, challenge misconceptions, and create a space where people feel accepted, understood, and supported.
